Training

We offer training classes including puppy preschool, beginner’s obedience, intermediate level, advanced and tricks combined with agility classes. All of our classes are very structured and include lots of motivating owners and dogs to learn and have fun while acquiring new skills as a team. Private lessons at the farm are also available if your pooch needs skills before enrolling in a group class. What we promise when it comes to training with us:

  • We will always treat you and your dog with respect
  • Use food, toys, praise and play to reward your dog
  • Be patient with you since we realize learning something new can be hard
  • Teach you how to communicate effectively with your dog
  • Be honest
  • Show you how to have fun while training your dog

Puppy Preschool

This class teaches our new fur parents everything they need to know to get their puppy started right and help raise a well behaved poochie!
This class is just for babies under 5 months! Puppies can enter in this class from 8 weeks old up to 5 months. After 5 months they are considered young adolescents so will need to go into the beginners program.
In this class we will talk about all things puppy and answer any questions you may have as well as most importantly let our puppies have a good romp with other puppies of similar age. No grown-ups to tell them to knock it off!
We play games and discuss potty training, destructive chewing, kennel training, foundation training for leave it, sit, down, come and walking on a leash and more! We discuss what is appropriate and what is not and how much to expect from our youngsters. This class runs once a week for two weeks. This class is a great foundation to our beginner’s obedience class.

Beginners Class Program

Dogs must be fully vaccinated to attend this group since we have field trips outside occasionally. This class is a 6 week, 12 sessions training session for the owners and dogs to ensure they are prepped for real life situations. We cover loose leash walking, including meeting new people and dogs without losing it, sit and stay, come when called eagerly, and down and stay and push ups while using controlled distractions as your pooch advances. By the end of these sessions owners participate in playing Frisbee over their dog and are confident in knowing what to do if their pooch forgets themselves. This program is very structured and created to teach owners to relax and not stress if their dog isn’t on par and to also have some fun when it comes to training their dogs. They will learn different ways to motivate and encourage their dogs in order to succeed. First class Megan has a discussion on problem behavior prevention and covers things such as jumping up, destructive chewing, barking, stealing, and how to keep our dogs out of being rehomed. We train using regular leashes, flat collars, or gentle leaders in all of our classes. All dogs must be social and friendly with all other dogs and humans. If you have any questions or concerns about your dog’s social behaviour, please advise prior to registration as there may be other training options that are better suited for you and your pooch!

Intermediate and Advanced Group Classes

Class runs once a week for 6 weeks.
This class is a great way to take what you have learned in the basic class to the next level and add to your pooch’s vocabulary! We are now ready to take on off leash control and distance work with more distractions. This class is great exercise for both poochie and owner and continues using Megan’s praise, play and reward method.
More homework but worth it! In this class we teach stand – perfect for vet appointment’s, grooming and rainy day towel offs, another recall for dogs with prey drive or more easily distracted with everything “SQUIRREL” and start distance commands for better control of our poochies in all situations. Another important skill you will learn is “Stop” when your dog is away from you. You will now learn skills on how to maintain control without your dog being right beside you in the catch zone as we like to call it!
Advanced: If you feel you’ve gained the knowledge of everything in the intermediate class we now fine tune those details and add more challenges to handler and pooch. All off leash and lots of exercise for both handler and pooch!

Tricks Class

Class runs once a week for 4 weeks.
This class is all fun while teaching new skills to your pooch! Great for building confidence in shy dogs or just to burn off extra energy. Perfect for exercising your dogs with our yucky winters right in your own living room once you’ve learned. You will to teach your pooch to start some of the agility obstacles including jumps, tunnel, weave poles, teeter totter and box. They will also learn to sit pretty, take a bow, crawl, spin, touch, weave, and rollover, play dead, jump over obstacles, through hoops and much more! Guaranteed to make you smile!
