Nymph
Falls Nature Park - map
About
3 km from Piercy Rd. on Forbidden Plateau Rd. there is a beautifully
maintained network of trails along the Puntledge river.
As you drive
up Forbidden Plateau Rd. you will see a large wooden sign for the
park on the left hand side. The driveway immediately after this
sign leads you to parking.
As you enter
the main trail into the park, you will see a welcoming sign showing
a happy dog running freely and unleashed. Please observe the RDCS
parks leashing-optional rules
(click
here for RDCS rules).
After a 10-15
minute walk down the main trail you will find yourself at the River.
A walk downstream will lead you to the falls and a walk upstream
will lead you to Barber Hole and eventually, Comox Lake - if you
want to make a day trip of it. Bring your bathing suits on a hot
day because the Puntledge River is has crystal-clean water and many
beautiful swimming holes. You and your dog can enjoy the water together.
There are a
couple of things to be careful of while you are at Nymph Falls Park.
If you hear a siren, leave the river immediately. This means that
they are releasing water at the dam which increases the flow of
the river. Your nice calm little pool might turn to rapids within
minutes. If you don't heed the siren, you could be putting both
your dog's and your own life at risk. Secondly, bears and cougars
live in the area. Keep your dogs in sight and under control.
I'm sure that
you will like Nymph Falls Park as much as we do. Enjoy the freedom
of an off-leash walk in this park but as always, be considerate
of those without dogs and keep your dog under control.
